Things to do in the Spring in The Blue Mountains: Crowd-Free Adventures Await!

It’s shoulder season in Ontario, or I as I prefer to call it in my neck of the woods, local’s season. The Spring (April to early June) and Autumn (September to early November) offer milder weather, fewer crowds and some unique experiences that make living in The Blue Mountains and surrounding areas great in any season. Here are some fun activities to keep you busy before the summer heat and crowds hit.

Axed Blue Mountain is Great Rain or Shine!

Collingwood

  1. Visit Local Breweries and Distilleries: Collingwood is home to several breweries and distilleries where you can sample craft beers, and spirits. Take a tour of the facilities, learn about the brewing process, and enjoy tastings of locally made beverages. If you are looking for great beer and food, Northwinds Brewery is a favourite with my family.

  2. Georgian Trail: This multi-use trail is great for biking, walking, or jogging. It offers scenic views of Georgian Bay and is lined with numerous spots to relax or have a picnic.

  3. Indoor Activities: On rainy or chilly days, you’ll still find plenty to do like bowling at Georgian Bowl or indoor rock climbing at Climbers Corner. These activities offer a fun way to pass the time and stay active regardless of the weather.

The Grey Highlands

  1. Visiting Waterfalls: This is an excellent time to see waterfalls at their most spectacular, as they swell with the melting snow and spring rains. Eugenia Falls and Hogg’s Falls are both beautiful to see.

  2. Cycling: The roads and trails in Grey Highlands are great for cycling, especially in the spring when the landscape is especially beautiful and the temperatures are mild. Routes around Lake Eugenia or through the rolling countryside provide both challenging and leisurely options for cyclists.

  3. Scenic Drives: Take a leisurely drive through the Beaver Valley, enjoying the picturesque countryside and quaint towns like Kimberley and Eugenia. Stop at lookout points, charming stores and great lunch and dinner spots along the way.

These areas blend natural beauty with rural charm, making them perfect for a visit during Ontario’s more temperate months. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure, relaxation, or rural experiences, you’ll find plenty to do in Collingwood, Meaford, Grey Highlands and the Blue Mountains.
